Start with your own trip, not an average price
There is no single useful price for a Tanzania safari without a few details: your dates, number of travellers, route, accommodation and length of stay. A short road safari and a longer journey with flights and remote camps are different purchases. Even two seven-day programmes can include very different amounts of wildlife time.
Begin with a comfortable total budget and say whether it includes international flights and a beach extension. Blue Eagle’s itinerary cards show indicative starting rates. A written proposal for your actual party and dates is the figure to use before making a booking decision.
Accommodation: compare the location as well as the room
The name of the property, room type, meal plan and number of nights should appear in your proposal. Broad labels such as “mid-range” or “luxury” do not explain where you will sleep or how far you will travel to reach the day’s activities. A beautiful room is only one part of the choice.
Ask for an alternative at a different price level on the same route. Compare what changes: facilities, room space, camp location or included meals. Keeping the itinerary similar makes the trade-off easier to understand. For families, confirm the actual room arrangement rather than assuming a quoted room can accommodate everyone.
Vehicle, guide and flights: check the complete journey
Confirm whether your vehicle and guiding arrangements are private or shared, and which transfers are covered. Group size changes how shared vehicle costs are divided, but adding a traveller can also require another room or a different vehicle arrangement. Ask for the total party price as well as any per-person figure.
If flights are proposed, check the departure point, destination, luggage allowance and ground transfers at both ends. A flight may help the route work better, but it should be compared against a realistic road option. Include arrival and departure days when assessing the value of the full programme.
Park fees and activities belong in the comparison
Park access and accommodation are separate parts of safari planning. Tanzania National Parks provides official visitor and fee information; ask your operator to confirm the charges applicable to your route and travel dates. Do not rely on an old fee table found online.
Request a clear statement covering park entry, guiding and any separately charged activities. A balloon flight, guided walk or cultural visit should be named if it is included. “All-inclusive” needs an explanation too: drinks, laundry and transfers can be treated differently by different properties.
A simple checklist for comparing two proposals
- Same travel dates, number of nights and traveller ages.
- Named accommodation, room arrangement and meal plan.
- Private or shared transport, guiding and airport transfers.
- Park fees, planned activities and domestic flights.
- Items payable separately, including any optional experiences.
- Total price, currency, payment schedule and cancellation terms.
Mark any unanswered item before comparing headline totals. Ask how long the quoted availability and price can be held. An initial enquiry does not reserve rooms or lock a rate, and a lower headline figure is not necessarily better value if major elements are missing.
Spend on the parts you will remember
Choose two priorities: perhaps more time in the Serengeti, a particular style of camp or a relaxed pace with fewer hotel changes. Then ask which adjustments preserve those priorities within your budget. Reducing the number of destinations can sometimes make a trip more enjoyable than compressing the same route into fewer days.
Explore our Short Safari Escape and Classic Northern Circuit as different starting points. Share your dates and spending range through Plan your trip, and request a proposal with the inclusions written out.
A few common questions
Are the website prices a final quotation?
No. They are indicative starting points. Your dates, party, accommodation and confirmed inclusions determine the final proposal.
Should I compare only the price per day?
No. Compare the complete route, actual activity time, accommodation, transport and inclusions. Arrival and transfer days affect what a quoted day contains.
